Cricket:
The Celebrity Cricket Match was added to the Guyana Festival activities in 1997 as a Golden Oldies festival, honouring former Guyana players, most of whom went on to represent the West Indies with distinction.
Clive Lloyd, the most successful West Indies captain ever, Joe Solomon who effected the run out in the first ever tied Test at the Gabba gound in 1961, the late Roy Fredericks, 1970 Wisden Cricketer of the Year Basil Butcher, Faoud Bacchus, Lance Gibbs and Len Baichan all participated in the Western Union sponsored festival from 1997 to 2002.
In 2003, the organizers decided to try something new and young. A team of upcoming Guyanese cricketers who participated in the Carib Beer regional series were invited. This idea added a fresh dimension to the cricket and has grown steadily over the years. Most recently, the organizers have turned exclusively to the 20/20 version of the game,
it's shortest and most exciting format with the participation of the national Guyana team and three teams from various leagues from Canada.
With lots of prizes and money up for grabs, thousands turn up in high anticipation of enjoying fine Guyanese music, exquisite cuisine and true Guyanese ambiance.
Cricket, lovely cricket. Guyana's most popular sport.

"the flavours, the colours, the music, the TASTE of our beautiful Guyana!".
Begin the day in a true Guyanese fashion ¨C with saltfish and bake. Then savour a taste of mouth watering duck or mutton curry, pepperpot, dhal pouri and more. And if that is not enough, you're invited to top it off with a cup of hot dhal or a piece of black pudding.
When you feel the urge for something sweet, mosey over to the pastry tent and check out the cassava pone, Chinese cake or pine tarts and if this is not enough, there is jelabi, gulab jamun or peera.
Burn everything off by wining down to the rhythms of our fabulous DJ's on hand. Then cool down with a glass of mauby or sorrel drink.

The focus of the exposition has evolved over the years, taking on several new and important roles while still addressing many of the key themes from which it originated. There is a particular emphasis on showcasing and promoting Guyana and Guyanese products and services while seeking to stimulate foreign interest and, ultimately, investments in Guyana.
Additionally, the evolutionary process that has resulted from previous trade shows has led to the adaptation of a much more business-oriented character to the event. Over the years, more than a dozen Guyanese companies have established distributorships, agencies or representative in Canada. There have also been cases of new and dynamic ideas and ventures arising from the exposition itself, underscoring the uniqueness of the tradeshow and providing a new dimension to this much anticipated annual activity.
